Ulhasnagar, April 8: In a significant breakthrough against rising vehicle thefts, police apprehended two juvenile suspects during a routine patrol after noticing their suspicious movements. The swift action led to the recovery of multiple stolen motorcycles and exposed a pattern of thefts across Ulhasnagar and Kalyan.
According to police officials, the two suspects attempted to flee when questioned, prompting a brief chase before they were successfully caught. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the motorcycles in their possession had been stolen from different parts of the city.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Ashok Koli and Chandrhar Godse. The team included Bankat Swami Darade along with officers Ramdas Misal, Dilip Chavan, Santosh Sangle, Sachin Patil, and Chandu Gaikwad.
During questioning, the accused confessed to stealing a total of six motorcycles. Investigations revealed that the vehicles were stolen from areas under Vitthalwadi and Kolsewadi police jurisdictions, with some thefts specifically linked to the Nevali area.
What has shocked authorities is that both accused are juveniles. Preliminary findings suggest that they were stealing vehicles not for financial necessity but “for fun.” The duo reportedly used duplicate or fake keys to steal motorcycles quickly without causing visible damage, indicating a calculated modus operandi.
So far, all six stolen motorcycles have been seized, and efforts are underway to trace additional stolen vehicles and identify any possible buyers or accomplices involved in the racket.
Police officials stated that a detailed background check of the juveniles is being conducted to uncover any previous involvement in similar crimes. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of their activities.
Authorities believe that this timely action will help curb the increasing incidents of vehicle theft in the region and serve as a warning to others involved in such illegal activities.
