In a continued crackdown on narcotics, Ulhasnagar police have arrested an individual for openly selling drugs, seizing approximately 700 grams of ganja (cannabis) during the operation.
According to police sources, the accused was caught red-handed while allegedly selling ganja in a local area of Ulhasnagar. Acting on a tip-off, officials conducted a swift raid and recovered the contraband from his possession.
This arrest is part of a broader effort by local law enforcement to curb the growing drug menace in the region. Over the past few months, multiple operations have been carried out targeting peddlers and supply networks.
Authorities have earlier reported several significant drug busts in and around Ulhasnagar, including:
- Seizure of around 4 kg of ganja from the Gulshan Nagar area
- A major operation involving over 60 kg of ganja hidden in a modified vehicle, often described as a “Pushpa-style” smuggling method
- Arrest of a peddler in nearby Ambarnath with more than 1.4 kg of ganja and charas
Following the latest arrest, police are investigating the source of the drugs and possible links to a larger network. Officials are also trying to determine whether the accused was acting alone or was part of an organized supply chain.
The increasing number of drug-related cases has raised concern among residents, with many calling for stricter enforcement and awareness campaigns to tackle substance abuse, especially among youth.Police have assured that the crackdown will continue, with more raids expected in the coming days to eliminate drug trafficking from Ulhasnagar and nearby areas.
