Ulhasnagar ₹97.23 Crore Budget Presented, Commissioner Hands It Directly to Mayor After 29 Years.

In a significant development, the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation has presented a flexible and development-focused budget of ₹97.23 crore for the financial year 2026–27 during its general body meeting.

In a rare and notable move, Municipal Commissioner Manisha Awade directly handed over the budget to the Mayor—an occurrence reported after nearly 29 years, making it a historic moment in the corporation’s proceedings.

The budget is being described as balanced, with a modest surplus of ₹14.16 lakh. The total estimated income stands at ₹97.23 crore, with revenue income pegged at ₹587.59 crore and registered income at ₹285.65 crore.

On the expenditure side, ₹597.41 crore has been allocated for revenue expenses, while ₹372.71 crore is earmarked for capital development works across the city.

Five-Point Development Plan

The budget is structured around a five-point agenda focusing on:

  • Strengthening basic civic amenities
  • Promoting digitalization
  • Enhancing environmental protection
  • Upgrading infrastructure
  • Ensuring inclusive social development

Focus on Infrastructure and Services

A major portion of the budget has been allocated to infrastructure development:

  • ₹186.21 crore for road development
  • ₹76.65 crore for improving water supply

Special attention has also been given to key projects such as Sart Road, Sart School, and the expansion of modern healthcare services, aimed at boosting overall urban development.In a step towards inclusive growth, over ₹1 crore has been earmarked for the welfare of women, children, and the pilgrim community, highlighting the administration’s focus on social responsibility.

The budget is being seen as a roadmap to transform Ulhasnagar into a more modern, smart, and balanced urban center, with emphasis on sustainable growth and improved quality of life for residents.Further discussions and approvals are expected as the financial plan moves through the next stages of implementation.
