Tragedy on Ghodbunder Road: Speeding Truck Crushes Auto-Rickshaw.

Thane : A fatal road accident in Thane, Maharashtra, involving a truck and an auto-rickshaw on the Patlipada flyover along Ghodbunder Road.A speeding truck collided with an auto-rickshaw on the Patlipada flyover.The auto-rickshaw driver, identified as Sameer Salim Sayyed Ansari from Borivali, tragically lost his life due to injuries sustained in the crash.The truck driver initially fled the scene after the collision.Following the hit-and-run, traffic police successfully tracked and arrested the truck driver at Gaimukh on Ghodbunder Road. 

Ghodbunder Road is a major arterial route prone to frequent accidents due to heavy vehicle traffic and speeding. Recent reports indicate several similar incidents in the Patlipada and Gaimukh areas-

• Multi-Vehicle Pile-ups: In February 2026, a heavy vehicle lost control near Gaimukh, hitting 12 vehicles and injuring a rickshaw driver.
• Fatal Crashes: In July 2025, another truck accident on the Patlipada bridge resulted in the deaths of a driver and a helper when their vehicle hit a divider.
• Pedestrian Fatalities: Elderly residents and pedestrians have also been victims of speeding vehicles in the Patlipada area. 

Conclusion-

The accident involved a speeding truck that collided with an auto-rickshaw on the Patlipada flyover along Ghodbunder Road. The victim, Sameer Salim Sayyed Ansari, an auto-rickshaw driver from Borivali, tragically died from his injuries. While the truck driver initially fled the scene, he was later intercepted and arrested by traffic police at Gaimukh.
