Thane:Drug Abuse Between Thane and Kalyan on a Local Train

Thane : About daylight drug abuse by addicts in local trains between Thane and Kalyan. It states that common passengers are distressed and their safety is being compromised. Commuters have reported a rise in drug-related nuisance within Mumbai local trains, particularly on the Central Railway route.Travelers have expressed anger over the perceived irresponsibility of the Railway Police in curbing these activities.Recent viral videos have captured individuals openly consuming drugs in compartments, including a case where a group was seen snorting substances on a train heading towards Nalasopara.Women and families have especially noted feeling insecure due to the presence of addicts and the smell of substances like marijuana in shared coaches. While the headline focuses on a specific safety concern, authorities have been conducting raids in the region In separate incidents, police have seized significant quantities of drugs at Kalyan Railway Station, including over 20 kg of ganja from passengers.A major inter-state drug bust recently led to the seizure of 115 kg of ganja and the arrest of 13 people in the Kalyan region.The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) have been directed to increase patrolling and issue lookout notices for individuals involved in such illegal activities.
