Ulhasnagar News: In a decisive move to clean up public spaces and improve safety, the Vitthalwadi Traffic Police has announced strict action against long-abandoned vehicles lying in police premises across Ulhasnagar.
109 Vehicles Lying Unclaimed for Years
Senior Police Inspector Anil Padwal revealed that around 109 vehicles have been seized over the years and remain unclaimed some for as long as 15 to 20 years.
These vehicles, many linked to cases like accidents, drunk driving, or missing documentation, have been gathering dust and rust, turning the premises into an unhealthy and cluttered space.
Notices Sent, But No Response
Authorities have made multiple efforts to trace the owners:
- Notices sent via post (twice)
- Appeals issued through newspapers
- Coordination with various police stations
Despite these efforts, many vehicle owners have still not come forward to claim their vehicles.
Final Warning Before Scrapping
The traffic department has now issued a final appeal:
Vehicle owners must visit the traffic branch office at Camp 4, get their vehicles inspected, clear pending fines, and submit valid documents to reclaim them.
If no one comes forward within the given deadline, the vehicles will be:
- Evaluated by the RTO
- Sent for auction or scrapping
The process is expected to begin within 8 to 10 days.
Why This Action Matters
The abandoned vehicles have not only occupied valuable space but also created hygiene and environmental issues within the police premises.
With upcoming infrastructure work and government cleanliness drives, clearing this backlog has become necessary.
Areas Covered Under the Appeal
The announcement applies to vehicle owners from:
- Ulhasnagar
- Ambernath
- Badlapur
- Hill Line and nearby areas
A Small Delay, A Big Loss
For many people, a forgotten or seized vehicle might seem like a minor issue but this notice is a reminder that ignoring such matters can lead to permanent loss.
Police officials have even made it easier by allowing fines to be paid on-site through digital machines or via court, giving citizens every opportunity to resolve their cases.
A Call to Act Now
Inspector Anil Padwal has urged citizens:
“Come forward, bring your documents, clear your dues, and take your vehicles back. Once the auction starts, there will be no reversal.”
Conclusion
The cleanup drive by Vitthalwadi Traffic Police is a step toward better management, cleaner surroundings, and efficient use of public space. For vehicle owners, this is the last chance to act before it’s too late.
