Kalyan: On April 5 a troubling incident has come to light from a Joint Entrance (JE) examination centre, where a student was allegedly denied entry despite arriving on time, sparking concerns over mismanagement and inconsistent enforcement of rules.
Netra, a JE aspirant, claimed that she reached her examination centre at around 8:00 AM, well before the scheduled start time of 8:30 AM. According to her, she had already entered the premises when an issue was raised regarding her Aadhaar card during the verification process.
“I was told that my Aadhaar card was not valid, even though it was the same one issued through official channels,” Netra stated. She further explained that authorities at the centre instructed her to provide the original Aadhaar card, despite initially handing her a declaration form which mentioned that candidates without the original ID could submit alternative proof.
Following the instructions, Netra immediately contacted her grandmother and asked her to bring a printed copy of the Aadhaar card. However, by the time she received it and attempted to re-enter, she was denied access.
“They told me the time was up and I couldn’t log in anymore,” she said. “But the login time was actually until 8:50 AM. I was removed at 8:30 itself.”
Netra also alleged that officials at the centre denied her claim of arriving early and refused to consider her situation. She further added that no assistance was provided despite her attempts to seek help from authorities present at the location.
The incident has raised serious questions regarding the clarity of examination guidelines and the conduct of officials at exam centres. Students and parents are now demanding stricter adherence to official rules and more humane handling of such situations, especially in high-stakes examinations like JE.As of now, there has been no official statement from the examination authorities regarding the incident.
