A shocking incident has come to light from Dombivli, where a 22-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three autorickshaw drivers in the Khambalpada area on the night of March 27, 2026.
Police have arrested all three accused Chetan Chauhan (20), Hemant Chauhan (22), and Umesh Verma (30) within 24 hours of the FIR being registered. The swift action by authorities has been noted amid growing public concern over women’s safety.
According to police sources, the survivor, a native of Solapur, works with a private security agency and also as a beautician in Dombivli. She was reportedly acquainted with the accused, who allegedly lured her to a flat in Khambalpada under the pretext of a party or social gathering.
Once at the location, the accused allegedly forced her to consume alcohol and then took turns sexually assaulting her. Reports also indicate that she was physically assaulted when she resisted.
The survivor approached the Tilak Nagar Police Station the following day and filed a complaint. Acting promptly, police formed special teams and launched a manhunt, leading to the arrest of all three accused within a day.
The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for gang rape and assault. They were produced before the Kalyan District Court and have been remanded to police custody until April 4, 2026.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents, once again raising serious concerns about women’s safety and the need for stricter vigilance in the region.Police officials have assured that a thorough investigation is underway and that strict action will be taken to ensure justice for the survivor.
