Ulhasnagar FDA Raids Expose Illegal Gutkha Trade, Large Stock Seized from Two Locations.

In a major crackdown on banned tobacco products, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has once again exposed the illegal gutkha trade in Ulhasnagar, seizing a significant quantity of prohibited items during coordinated raids.

The FDA team conducted raids at two separate locations in the city, targeting suspected illegal storage and distribution points. The operations were carried out in the Chinchpada area under the jurisdiction of the Vitthalwadi Police Station and in Ashlepada locality.During the raids, authorities seized a large stock of banned gutkha products allegedly intended for sale.

The individuals linked to the seized stock have been identified as Sunil Babu Sah Agwade from Chinchpada and Milin Jaiswal from Ashlepada. Both are suspected of being involved in the illegal storage and distribution of gutkha despite the statewide ban.

Following the operation, a complaint has been filed by FDA security officer Sahili Babu Sah Agwade at the Vitthalwadi Police Station. Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the matter.

The probe is being carried out under the guidance of Deputy Superintendent of Police B.R. Darade.Despite a strict ban imposed by the Government of Maharashtra on gutkha, pan masala, and flavored tobacco products, illegal trade continues to thrive in certain pockets, posing serious health risks and challenging enforcement agencies.

Following this strong action, a sense of fear has reportedly spread among illegal gutkha sellers in the region, with authorities warning of continued crackdowns in the coming days.Further investigation is underway to identify the supply chain and other individuals involved in the illegal trade.
