A shocking case of road rage in Mumbai ended in tragedy on Saturday, March 14, 2026, when a 25-year-old biker was allegedly killed following a heated argument with a cab driver in the Malad West area.The deceased has been identified as Sharik Ansari (25), a digital marketing professional. The fatal confrontation occurred between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM on the busy Link Road near Inorbit Mall under the Oswal Metro Station.
According to police sources, the incident began near Mith Chowky Junction while the biker and a cab were traveling from Malwani toward Andheri.
The dispute reportedly started after the biker’s vehicle allegedly collided with the cab when the driver applied sudden brakes.The verbal argument escalated when both vehicles stopped near the mall area. Witnesses claimed that during the confrontation, the biker allegedly used his helmet to smash the driver-side window of the cab.
In retaliation, the cab driver reportedly attacked Ansari with a sharp object, suspected to be a vehicle key, which pierced the victim’s chest and neck.Bystanders and police quickly rushed the injured biker to a nearby private hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival, shocking people in the area.
Officials from Bangur Nagar Police Station arrested the cab driver Satyendra Gupta (28) and a passenger in the car, Sunil Pal (27), in connection with the incident. A murder case has been registered against the accused.
Police are currently examining CCTV footage from several nearby locations including Mith Chowky, Kanchpada, and the incident spot to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine the exact motive behind the deadly altercation.The tragic incident has once again highlighted the growing concern over road rage cases in Mumbai, especially on busy city roads.
