ULHASNAGAR – A wave of panic swept through the Shivneri Nagar area of Ulhasnagar Camp 1 on Sunday evening following the brutal murder of a local youth. The incident, which occurred around 5:00 PM, left the neighborhood in a state of shock and fear.
The victim has been identified as Praveen Ashok Verma. According to preliminary reports, Verma was targeted by an unidentified assailant who struck him violently on the head with a heavy stone. The impact of the blow was fatal, and Verma reportedly died on the spot.
Police Response and Investigation
Upon receiving news of the assault, the Ulhasnagar police dispatched teams to the crime scene immediately. Given the gravity of the crime, Sachin Gore, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4), visited Shivneri Nagar to personally oversee the initial proceedings and coordinate the investigation.
Police officials have cordoned off the area and conducted a thorough forensic inspection. Several specialized teams have been formed and deployed across the city to track down the suspect, who fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Possible Motives
As of now, the motive behind the killing remains a mystery. Investigators are currently looking into several angles, including:
- Personal Enmity: Whether the attack was the result of a long-standing dispute.
- Spur-of-the-moment Altercation: Whether a sudden argument escalated into violence.
