Thane : A disturbing incident in Thane where a 22-year-old woman was allegedly molested while performing house-cleaning services booked through a mobile app. The incident took place inside a flat in a luxury residential society within the jurisdiction of the Kapurbawdi Police in Thane.A 22-year-old woman who arrived at the residence for work through a service app.A resident of the society, who had booked the cleaning service, allegedly took advantage of the situation to molest her.The victim filed an immediate complaint, and the Kapurbawdi Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR). The accused has been served a police notice, and an investigation is currently underway.This case highlights significant safety gaps for women working in the gig economy, particularly those providing home-based services via apps. It raises urgent questions about the safety protocols and background verification processes implemented by these platforms to protect their service providers.
