Ulhasnagar: The local municipal corporation has been actively removing unauthorized banners and hoardings as part of a routine civic drive to enforce discipline and maintain city cleanliness. The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC), led by Commissioner Manisha Awhale, has launched strict campaigns across all four wards to pull down illegal advertisements, including political banners and posters. These actions are backed by directives from the High Court. In recent months, the UMC has registered multiple criminal cases (FIRs) against violators who displayed banners without official permission.Beyond banner removal, the UMC is also cracking down on other issues like habitual late-coming among its employees to improve service delivery to citizens.

This “routine civic action” often intensifies during major city events or elections. For instance, in early 2026, Ulhasnagar saw heightened activity due to the civic body elections held on January 15. During this period, police and civic officials monitored public spaces closely to prevent unauthorized political displays and maintain order.
