Several posts circulating online claimed that technologies like cloud seeding or solar geoengineering were being used to manipulate weather conditions. Some even referenced the controversial SCoPEx project, suggesting it could be responsible for the sudden darkness.
No Evidence Behind the Claims
However, experts and scientific evidence strongly refute these claims. There is no proof linking any individual, including Bill Gates, to weather changes in India. Meteorologists have clarified that such incidents are entirely natural.
Weather experts explain that the phenomenon is typically caused by dense cumulonimbus clouds—massive storm clouds that can block up to 90% of sunlight. These clouds are often associated with intense weather systems such as western disturbances or strong pre-monsoon activity in North India.
About the Geoengineering Project
While Bill Gates has funded research into solar geoengineering, including the SCoPEx project, it was never implemented on a scale capable of influencing regional weather patterns. In fact, the project was officially terminated in March 2024.
A Natural Yet Striking Phenomenon
Such “day turning into night” events are not uncommon during severe storm activity and have been reported in parts of Uttar Pradesh in the past as well. Viral videos of similar scenes often resurface during extreme weather conditions, adding to public curiosity and speculation.
