Kalyan : In a recent dramatic operation on March 7, 2026, Khadakpada police arrested Aziz Irani, a notorious thief, from the Ambivali Iranian settlement near Kalyan.The arrest, described as “film-style,” was captured on CCTV footage and involved a high-stakes pursuit through the settlement’s narrow lanes after Irani attempted to flee.
Aziz Irani, a habitual offender who was absconding in connection with a major robbery case in Thane.The Ambivali Irani Basti, an area known for being a challenging environment for police operations due to frequent resistance from local residents.Khadakpada police conducted a strategic raid on the settlement. When Irani spotted the officers, he tried to escape, leading to a thrilling chase that was fully recorded by local surveillance cameras.
This settlement has a history of high-voltage dramas during police raids. Just weeks prior, in February 2026, another “most wanted” criminal, Mohammad Kawar Irani, was arrested there in a joint operation by Pimpri-Chinchwad and Khadakpada police, which also saw family members attempting to obstruct the officers.
The successful capture of Aziz Irani is being hailed as a major achievement for the local police, showcasing their persistence in navigating difficult areas to apprehend long-wanted fugitives.
