Nalasopara : In a shocking incident in Nalasopara East, Maharashtra, a 24-year-old man named Aftab Sheikh was stabbed to death on February 27, 2026, following a dispute over a WhatsApp Display Picture (DP). At approximately 4:30 AM in the Hanuman Nagar locality, Mehndi Hassan Sheikh allegedly stabbed Aftab in the stomach with a knife in front of the victim’s wife.The conflict arose because the victim’s wife had set a photo of the suspect’s son as her WhatsApp DP. This led to a heated argument between Aftab and the suspect, Mehndi Hassan Sheikh. Aftab succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
The Nalasopara police arrested the main suspect, Mehndi Hassan Sheikh (25), shortly after the crime.Local residents claimed the suspect is a Bangladeshi national who has previously served time for a serious crime, a detail currently being probed by authorities.While the primary suspect is in custody, police are searching for other individuals who may have been involved in the assault.
