Badlapur : In Badlapur, Maharashtra, police have busted a dangerous egg-selling racket operating out of a local fertility clinic. The Incident On February 20, 2026, three women were arrested in the Joveli area of Badlapur East for their involvement in the illegal trade. The accused allegedly targeted vulnerable women by luring them with financial incentives. They used injections to artificially increase egg production (ovum) in these women’s wombs and then sold the eggs illegally.The husband of one of the accused women has denied the allegations against her.

This case in Badlapur follows a series of high-profile crackdowns on fertility-related crimes across India.A massive baby-selling racket at Universal Srushti Fertility Centre was exposed, where infants were bought for as little as ₹90,000 and sold to desperate couples for up to ₹35 lakh. Over 25 people, including doctors and lab technicians, were arrested in that network.Authorities have increasingly found clinics operating without valid licenses, using forged documents, and performing unauthorized medical procedures like embryo creation in violation of national ethical guidelines.
