Kerala :On February 19, 2026, a serious road accident occurred at Madakkal Junction (near Cherthala in Alappuzha, Kerala) where a speeding red Volkswagen Polo collided with a woman riding a scooter. The scooter rider, identified as a school teacher, sustained serious injuries in the crash.CCTV footage shows the woman cautiously checking both sides of the narrow 20-foot wide intersection before attempting to cross. However, the Volkswagen Polo, reportedly exceeding the speed limit (estimated at 30-40 kmph for that stretch), rammed directly into the scooter.The incident has sparked a debate on road safety at narrow junctions, specifically highlighting the dangers of overspeeding and the need for stricter speed control measures in such areas. Authorities are currently reviewing the circumstances of the crash, including the speeding violation by the car driver.
