In a commendable action, Central Police successfully arrested a clever thief who targeted vehicles during emergencies and recovered multiple stolen items, highlighting the effectiveness of active patrolling in the city.
The case came to light after a complaint by Jayaram Ote, a resident of Badlapur West. Two days ago, while driving his Wagon R on Kalyan-Ambernath Road, his car developed a fault near Section 17, Camp 3 in Ulhasnagar, emitting smoke.As Ote stepped out to inspect the vehicle, an unknown individual took advantage of the situation and fled with his belongings, including a mobile phone, Aadhaar card, PAN card, driving license, and ₹4,000 cash.
Following the complaint at the Central Police Station, a special investigation team was formed under the guidance of Sachin Ghode, along with Senior Police Inspector Shankar Raut and Police Inspector Tukaram Pade.
During routine patrolling, the team detained a suspicious individual, who, upon interrogation, confessed to multiple thefts across the region.
Major Recovery
Police recovered:
- 3 stolen motorcycles
- 3 mobile phones
- Cash and other valuables
The investigation led to the resolution of:
- 3 theft cases under Central Police Station jurisdiction
- 1 case from Vitthalwadi Police Station
Further inquiries revealed that the accused was involved in several other thefts across three different police zones, indicating a wider criminal network.
Police are continuing to interrogate the accused to uncover more theft cases and possible accomplices. Officials have assured that strict action will be taken to curb such opportunistic crimes.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain alert during vehicle breakdowns or emergencies, as such situations are often exploited by criminals.The successful arrest once again underlines the importance of proactive policing and public vigilance in maintaining law and order in Ulhasnagar.
