A shocking incident of assault has surfaced from Shahpur Thane, where a receptionist at a dry cleaning shop was allegedly slapped by a customer following a heated argument over a minor discount.
The incident took place at Vastra Dry Cleaners, located on Jail Bypass Road. According to reports, a woman accompanied by a man visited the shop on a Friday evening to get a blanket dry cleaned.
The receptionist, identified as Preeti Kumari, informed the customers that the service charge for cleaning the blanket was ₹750. However, the woman allegedly demanded a ₹50 discount. When the receptionist refused, citing a fixed pricing policy, the situation quickly escalated.
During the argument, the woman reportedly began verbally abusing the receptionist and then slapped her in a fit of anger. The entire incident was captured on the shop’s CCTV cameras, providing clear evidence of the assault.The incident has sparked outrage, especially among local business owners and workers, highlighting concerns about the safety of frontline staff.
Following the incident, the victim informed the shop owner and approached the Shahpur Police. Police have accepted the complaint and initiated legal proceedings against the acussed.Authorities are expected to review the CCTV footage as part of the investigation and take appropriate action.
The incident has once again raised concerns about increasing instances of aggression over trivial issues. Locals have called for strict action to ensure such behavior is not tolerated and to safeguard employees working in customer-facing roles.
