A serious case of alleged sexual harassment at a private school in the Sagav area of Dombivli has triggered outrage among residents and led to protests by political activists.
The incident pertains to Jai Bharat High School, where the accused, Saravana Ayyar son of school trustee Shiva Ayyar is alleged to have harassed a female teacher.
According to the complaint, the accused had been sending obscene messages and videos to the teacher and allegedly pressuring her into a sexual relationship.
Unable to tolerate the alleged harassment, the teacher, along with her mother, approached members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) seeking support and justice.
Following this, MNS workers and activists reached the school and staged a protest, demanding strict action against the accused. The situation remained tense for some time, drawing attention from locals.
Senior Police Inspector Sandipan Shinde from the Manpada Police Station arrived at the spot with his team and brought the situation under control.Police subsequently questioned trustee Shiva Ayyar, who reportedly cooperated with the investigation.
The accused was later taken into custody from his residence and brought to the police station for further questioning.
Reacting to the incident, Shiva Ayyar stated that if his son is found guilty, he should face strict legal action, indicating cooperation with the authorities.
Police have launched a detailed investigation into the case. The process of recording the victim’s statement is currently underway, and further action will be taken based on the findings.The incident has raised concerns about workplace safety and accountability within educational institutions in Dombivli.
