Pune- On 22 March 2026 A serious accident occurred on Tingrenagar–Vimannagar Road near Pune Airport after a police action reportedly went wrong, leaving three people injured, including an elderly couple.
According to initial reports, police personnel had stretched a rope barrier across the road for operational reasons, possibly to control traffic or conduct checks in the area. However, the situation took a dangerous turn when the rope was allegedly pulled at the wrong moment by a female police officer.
As a result, an elderly couple traveling on the road, along with another man, were caught off guard and sustained serious injuries after colliding with the suddenly tightened rope.
Local residents and bystanders rushed to help the injured, who were later shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their current condition is reported to be under medical observation.
The incident has sparked concern among citizens regarding road safety and police procedures, especially in busy areas like Tingrenagar and Vimannagar, which see heavy daily traffic due to their proximity to the airport.
Authorities are expected to review the circumstances surrounding the incident and take necessary action to ensure such lapses are not repeated in the future.
