A shocking accident was reported in Navi Mumbai after a speeding SUV mounted a footpath and severely injured a woman in the CBD Belapur area. The incident occurred on Friday, March 13, 2026, and was captured on CCTV cameras.
According to reports, the accident took place around 5:30 PM near Arranger Corner in Sector 8 of CBD Belapur.The victim, Mohini Shinde (30), who works as a housemaid, was walking on the footpath when a Mahindra Scorpio SUV allegedly lost control and mounted the sidewalk.
Police sources said the young driver reportedly pressed the accelerator instead of the clutch, causing the vehicle to speed out of control. The SUV struck the woman from behind and dragged her for nearly 50 to 100 metres, creating panic among people nearby.Before finally coming to a stop, the out-of-control SUV crashed into several parked vehicles in the area, including four cars, an auto-rickshaw, and a sports bike, causing significant damage.
Locals quickly rushed the injured woman to MGM Hospital for treatment. Doctors later reported that she is in stable condition and currently recovering.Local residents managed to detain the driver and his companion at the scene and handed them over to the police. The driver has been identified as Vikram Kamble (19), who was accompanied by a friend named Akash.Preliminary reports suggest the accused may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Navi Mumbai Police have registered a case against the accused for reckless driving and damage to property. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage and conducting further investigation into the incident.The shocking accident has once again raised concerns about rash driving and road safety in busy urban areas of Navi Mumbai.
