In a shocking incident reported from Kalyan, a 30-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife in front of their young child following a domestic dispute. The crime took place on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in the Umbarde area of the city.The deceased has been identified as Archana Bhutkar (25), while the accused is her husband Vishal Bhutkar (30). The couple reportedly had a 9-year-old son, who was present at home during the incident and witnessed the attack.
According to police sources, Vishal Bhutkar allegedly strangled his wife inside their residence in the Umbarde locality. The incident is believed to have followed a domestic dispute, with investigators stating that the husband had suspicions about his wife’s character.
Reports indicate that the couple had been living separately for several months, and tensions between them had been ongoing.After committing the crime, the accused reportedly fled from Kalyan and traveled to Nashik.
On Thursday, March 12, he arrived at Sarkarwada Police Station accompanied by his brother. According to police sources, he shocked officers by confessing to the crime, allegedly telling them, I have come after killing my wife.Following the confession, Nashik police immediately contacted Khadakpada Police Station. Officers in Kalyan then visited the residence in the Umbarde area, where they confirmed the incident and recovered the victim’s body.
The accused was subsequently taken into custody by Khadakpada police, who have now launched a detailed investigation into the case.Police are recording statements and collecting evidence as part of the investigation. The tragic incident has shocked residents in the Kalyan area, particularly due to the fact that the couple’s young child reportedly witnessed the attack.Authorities stated that further legal action will follow as the investigation progresses.
