Massive Fire at Chemical Factory in Ambernath MIDC, Explosions Heard Up to 2 Km.

Ambernath: A massive fire broke out at Shree Ganesh Chemicals in the Anand Nagar MIDC area of Ambernath on Sunday (March 9, 2026) evening, triggering panic among residents and workers in the surrounding industrial zone.

According to initial reports, the fire started between 6:00 pm and 6:15 pm at the chemical factory located behind Nakshatra Hotel in the Anand Nagar MIDC area.Within minutes, the flames intensified and spread rapidly inside the premises, leading to multiple explosions of chemical drums stored in the factory.

Local residents reported hearing loud blasts and tremors from the factory. The impact of the explosions was reportedly felt within a radius of nearly two kilometers, causing fear among people living and working nearby.Witnesses said the blasts were followed by thick flames and heavy smoke rising from the industrial unit.

Due to the intensity of the fire, a huge plume of black smoke spread across the MIDC area and nearby residential zones. The thick smoke could be seen from a long distance, creating panic among residents in nearby localities. Many people gathered at a safe distance as emergency teams rushed to the scene. After receiving information about the incident, fire brigade teams from Ambernath and Badlapur immediately rushed to the spot. Several fire engines were deployed and firefighters began operations on a war footing to control the blaze.

Authorities are focusing on preventing the flames from spreading to nearby industrial units in the MIDC area.Given the highly combustible chemicals stored in the area, officials fear the fire could spread to neighboring factories if not controlled quickly. Firefighters are working continuously to contain the blaze and prevent further explosions.Authorities are expected to launch an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire once the situation is brought under control.Further details regarding possible injuries, damage, or the cause of the explosion are awaited as rescue and firefighting operations continue.
