Khar : A disturbing incident highlighting concerns over women’s safety occurred in Mumbai on March 8, 2026, when a man was caught secretly recording videos of women near the busy Khar Subway.According to reports, the man was standing by the roadside with his mobile phone positioned in a manner that appeared as if he was secretly recording passing women. A vigilant passerby noticed the suspicious behavior and confronted the man.
When the individual checked the suspect’s phone, several videos of women recorded without their consent were reportedly found, confirming the suspicions.The discovery angered people nearby, and a crowd quickly gathered at the scene. According to witnesses, outraged citizens physically confronted and reportedly beat the accused before escorting him to Khar Police Station.
The suspect was then handed over to the police along with the mobile phone containing the alleged recordings, which will serve as digital evidence in the case.Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect is a migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh who had recently come to Mumbai in search of employment. Police have begun questioning him and are examining the videos found on his phone.
The incident quickly went viral on social media, triggering widespread anger and renewed discussions about women’s safety in public spaces.The fact that the incident occurred on International Women’s Day further intensified public reactions, with many calling for stricter surveillance, stronger law enforcement, and greater vigilance to ensure the safety of women in crowded areas.
